about marc

I was born and raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and I spent much of my time hidden away in our basement playing video games. When I was in junior high I stumbled upon a level editor for a game called Wolfenstein 3D on some random BBS. It completely changed my view on video games from then on. Instead of just playing games I was able to create them in a limited way. I started slowly learning how video games were created and was always looking at how I could turn a school project into something related to games. I found video game design to be an amazing and unique medium for expressing creativity; it encompassed art, sound/music, logic and of course story. During high school I started learning programming and started making simple 2D games in C using the Allegro library. I went to the University of Rhode Island and completed both a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science. I focused most of my learning on graphics and AI, but enjoyed other topics such as networking and cryptography. My Masters thesis was on developing a new AI technique for NPCs to build dynamic and incomplete mapping models of game environments. I spend much of my spare time reading up on new game development techniques as well as writing my own libraries for game development. I am currently working as an AI and Gameplay engineer on Stargate Worlds.
